We Have A Right
“We have a right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Every protest, political stance, controversy, or movement have had this as the reason why they fight for such causes. It doesn’t matter the cause or where they are on the political spectrum. Everything that has been fought for starts with, “we have a right.” I’m not saying that people shouldn’t fight for what they believe in or that any side of the political spectrum is the right one. I’m not a political person by any means, but all I’m saying is that the “freedom” and “right” to be able to do what you believe is a double-edged sword.
Where do we draw the line? There must be some sweet spot where everyone’s ideals meet and say, “We’ve gone too far.” What intrigues me the most is that, no matter how outrageous a claim may be, there will always be a large following of people backing it up. Be it democrat, republican, socialist, etc., all of the individual political parties will support whatever agenda that they see lines up with their own perceived values of American people.
There’s always going to be a “right” to be, do, say, practice, everything and anything. No matter how hard any group of people will try to prove any kind of argument, there’s always going to be points of evidence to support the opposing side. It’s almost unrealistic how often the phrase “we have a right,” can be used to solidify any kind of political stance. Yes, I know that anything that disturbs life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness is unlawful but because of that, anyone can claim that pretty much anything can be practiced in order to support their stride towards life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
